New President, Joint Picnic, & Founding Dean (May 2016)

John Y. Walz, Ph.D. (LA B ’82), will be the next president of the Milwaukee School Engineering (MSOE), beginning July 1, 2016. Currently, Dr. Walz is dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Kentucky. Previously, he served as professor and head of the department of chemical engineering at Virginia Tech and worked as a process support engineer for Shell Oil Company.

On Sunday, June 5, Tau Bates are invited to attend a picnic hosted by the Illinois Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at Northwestern University. The picnic will take place by the Northwestern Lakefill from 11am to 1pm and is an opportunity to congratulate the graduating seniors and take advantage of a great networking opportunity for both current students and alumni in the area.

All TBP alumni in the area, regardless of initiating chapter, and spouses and/or children are invited to attend. A complimentary lunch will be provided, courtesy of the Illinois Gamma chapter. Quinnipiac University (CT) will add a School of Engineering in the fall. The founding dean of the school will be Justin W. Kile, Ph.D. (NY P ’98). Dr. Kile has been a member of the faculty since 2012 and has been serving as the associate dean of engineering since 2013. Click here for details on Dr. Kile’s new role in which he will lead the school through the approval process of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
