Amelia Zelenak, MI E 2015, a recent biomedical engineering graduate of Wayne State University (MI) has been awarded the Giles Sutherland Rich Memorial Scholarship by the Federal Circuit Bar Association. The award is presented annually to one law student who demonstrates academic excellence and financial need. It is given in memory of Circuit Judge Giles S. Rich of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and an author of the 1952 Patent Act.
Zelenak will be a first-year student at the Wayne State University Law School. Previously she worked as a senior consultant and systems engineer for Booz Allen Hamilton. She has also earmed a master’s degree in engineering and was active in the MI Epsilon Chapter of Tau Beta Pi as historian and community service officer. Read the announcement

The Pavilion Central School (NY) named two alumni to its 2016 hall of fame class. Professor of chemical engineering and materials science and engineering at the University of Utah, Terry A. Ring, Ph.D. (NY Q ’72), is one of this year’s inductees. Dr. Ring played football, basketball and baseball each season during high school. His interest in sports continues as he is currently on the Board of Directors for Utah Youth Rugby.
He previously working in the specialty chemicals industry, taught at MIT, and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Click here to read more biographical information on Dr. Ring.

According to a news release from Montana State University (MSU), Greg and Susan Gianforte have pledged support to MSU’s newly renamed Gianforte School of Computing. The money will create and endowment, support the university’s South Campus initiative, and provide current use funds to support the computing school.
Greg R. Gianforte, NJ A ’83, was the founder, chairman and chief executive of RightNow Technologies, an international software company that was publicly traded and headquartered in Bozeman. Oracle purchased RightNow Technologies in 2012 for $1.8 billion. Gianforte is now a candidate for governor of the state of Montana. He received an honorary doctorate in computer science from MSU in 2007.
