Academic All-Americans & FIT Initiation (June 2016)

Two Tau Bates were recently selected for the 2016 Academic All-America® Division II Track & Field/Cross Country teams. Click here for the All-America Division II Track & Field/Cross Country first, second, and third teams.

Daniel C. SchultzFL Z 2016, earned degrees in mechanical engineering and chemistry at Florida Institute of Technology and first team All-American. He is a distance and cross country runner. Schultz graduated with a 4.00 GPA, received the Div. II ADA Academic Achievement Awards for both cross country and track & field (2014-15), and is treasurer of the FL Zeta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.

Forrest J. ThayerOH N 2016, a mechanical engineering graduate from Cedarville University and third team All-American. He is a distance and cross country runner. Thayer was a member of the national title team placing 18th overall in the 8K. He is past president of the OH Nu Chapter of Tau Beta Pi and a 2015 TBP Scholar.

Florida Tech’s news source highlighted the spring initiation of the Florida Zeta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. The collegiate chapter initiated 32 new members, including 27 undergraduates, four graduates, and one alumni. Evan KarakolisTX G 2016, Rice University graduate of mechanical engineering and first team All-American. He is javelin thrower and three-time Academic All-American. Karakolis was awarded first-team All-American honors in 2016 after placing fifth in the javelin at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and maintained a 4.0 GPA.
