Mobile Area Water and Sewer System (MAWSS), in Alabama, has announced the hiring of Daryl B. Russell, P.E. (AL A ’88), as planning and engineering manager. In this position, Russell will focus on project management, system planning, and future growth. Previously, he was vice president of engineering for McCrory-Williams, Inc., and brings experience as a consulting engineer for MAWSS for more than two decades. According to a press release, Howard Wong, Ph.D. (CA A ’55), has been named a Worldwide Branding Executive of the Year in real estate. Dr. Wong is president of Keefer Holdings Ltd., a real estate and investment management organization, and has 39 years of professional experience. The special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Branding membership.
Dr. Wong earned a Ph.D. in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University. He also achieved bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkley.

Patrick G. Awuah Jr., Ph.D. (PA K ’89), was recently profiled by OBUOBA FM for his work as founder and president of Ashesi University in Ghana. A Swarthmore College (PA) engineering graduate, Dr. Awuah worked as a program manager with Microsoft until he began Ashesi with 30 students in a rented building.
