Todd E. Wichmann, IL G ’92, is CEO and owner of FIT Organic, a company that produces products that are USDA certified organic. He started producing detergents and has now also developed an organic mosquito repellent that many 2016 Olympians have endorsed for Rio.
According to an article from AlterNet, “We tested against a wide variety of mosquitos…[including] the yellow fever mosquito, which is also the Zika virus mosquito and we showed zero bites for three hours in all three species of mosquitos, and that’s when really knew that we had something,” Wichmann said. Fit Organic has already produced 50,000 bottles of the repellent.
On August 23, 2016, at the International Design Engineering Technical Conference & Computers & Information in Engineering Conference, Bernard Roth, Ph.D. (NY H ’56), will be a plenary speaker. His talk is entitled “Applying Design Thinking Processes and Mindsets.” Dr. Roth is the Rodney H. Adams professor of engineering and the academic director of the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (the d.school) at Stanford University.
