August Bulletin Issue, SolarCity Jobs, & Associate Dean

A news article reports that SolarCity is hiring 44 jobs at its factory in Buffalo, NY. “Thirty of those jobs either require licensed engineers or are related to engineering functions, highlighting the advanced nature of the manufacturing operations in Buffalo.”

Some of the available positions include: facilities mechanical engineer, senior process engineer, facilities electrical engineer, and thin film engineering manager. More information on opportunities can be found here.

Mary J. Wickham, Ph.D., (IA A ’80), has been named associate dean for operations and planning at the Iowa State University (ISU) College of Engineering. Dr. Wickham joined ISU in 2015 as an adjunct professor in aerospace engineering after a 20-year career in management and leadership positions at Caterpillar, Inc.

In her new role, she will “oversee operations and strategic planning for the largest college on campus at Iowa State, including finance, human resources, information technology, planning and strategy.” Her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering are from ISU and her Ph.D. is from the University of Minnesota.
