A news article from California State University, Fullerton, profiled Aaron T. Stillmaker, Ph.D. (CA R ’08), as the “engineer brain behind designing future computer processors.” Dr. Stillmaker joined Cal State Fullerton this fall as an assistant professor of computer engineering.
Previously he was the lead physical designer of “KiloCore,” one of the worlds’ first microchips with 1,000 processor cores. The article includes a Q&A with Dr. Stillmaker, who previously served as CA Rho Chapter president and CA Lambda Chapter advisor of Tau Beta Pi.

On October 2-3, 2016, in London, the Financial Times will host its third Africa summit.The FT Africa Summit 2016 is “the leading conference in the world on African business and economics.” Several of this year’s speakers have been announced, including Acha Leke, Ph.D. (GA A ’94), director at McKinsey & Company in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Dr. Leke’s bio indicates that he serves governments, multinational, and private sector institutions across Africa on issues of economic development, growth strategies, holistic transformations, and investment decisions. He has worked across over 20 African countries to date. He completed his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Stanford University and graduated from Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in engineering and as valedictorian (first black valedictorian in the school’s history).

Tomas W. Green, KS A 2018, was a 2016 WISE (Washington Internships for Students of Engineering) intern. He is majoring in chemical engineering at the University of Kansas. He was featured in an image on the WISE website bidding farewell to this year’s interns. The deadline to apply for the 2017 program is December 31, 2016.
