Astronaut Scholarship, Nuclear Engr. Opening, & Sr. Project Manager (September 2016)

The Norman Transcript (OK) reports that Christine M. Greve, OK A 2017, has been selected as a recipient of the Astronaut Foundation Scholarship. Greve is a senior at the University of Oklahoma majoring in aerospace engineering with a Spanish minor. According to the article, this foundation was created by the Mercury 7 Astronauts and their families to provide merit-based scholarships to the best and brightest university students who excel in STEM disciplines.

The Astronaut Scholarship “is known for being among the largest monetary scholarships awarded to undergraduate students. Candidates must be nominated by their university professors and exhibit leadership, imagination, and exceptional performance in STEM.”

There is an opening for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in nuclear engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Candidates with “knowledge and experience in the areas of reactor engineering and radiation sciences and technology” are sought for the opening in the department of engineering physics.

Jose “Tony” Buitrago, P.E. (PR A ’77), has joined Dewberry in Jacksonville, FL, as a senior associate and senior project manager. He has more than 35 years experience as a program management professional. Buitrago “served for 23 years as an active-duty combat engineer, completing multiple tours with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.” He has also led program management teams for the Department of Defense.
