Omer W. Blodgett, MN A ’41, was 99 when he passed away on January 11, 2017. Blodgett is a world-renowned authority on the design of welded connections. He spent 60 years working at Lincoln Electric, retiring as a senior design consultant. During his tenure, he authored numerous manuals and textbooks for the arc welding industry and his seminars on welding were known throughout the welding industry.

The Bent monument on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC) was profiled on Waymarking.com. The monument is dedicated to David M. Wilson, MI G 1919, as the “founder of the California Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.” It was dedicated by the Association’s 57th Annual Convention on October 18, 1962. See the image below. Wilson was a professor of civil engineering at USC, until his death in 1961.

On January 11, 2017, Irwin Isaacson Jr., LA B ’47, passed away at the age of 91. Isaacson was the former president and chairman of Weil and Moses Inc. According to his obituary, he “worked on such New Orleans landmarks as the Superdome, the International Trade Mart, and the Rivergate.”
Isaacson earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tulane University. He also served on the city of New Orleans’ Board of Electrical Examiners and a committee to write new building code.
