Stefan Cleveland, NH B 2016, was recently selected fourth in the second round (#26 overall) of the 2017 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. He was chosen by the Chicago Fire out of the University of Louisville where he played goalkeeper for the varsity men’s soccer team and is completing his MBA. He previously earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Dartmouth while playing varsity soccer.
Cleveland was named Ivy Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 and named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Second team in 2016. Read the article for more information.

Oakland University (MI) recently hosted its second annual Honors Institute event, which celebrates the university’s honor societies. Faculty, staff, and student leaders from several honor societies, including Tau Beta Pi were on hand. Click here to read the news article.
Robert P. Van Til, Ph.D. (MI A ’79), is a professor in the industrial & systems engineering department and he spoke about his experiences as faculty advisor for Oakland’s Tau Beta Pi chapter, a role he has served in since 1989. Currently, Dr. Van Til is the chief advisor to the Michigan Theta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. “We’ve always strived to build community among the students,” Dr. Van Til said, noting that the chapter has twice been named the nation’s most outstanding chapter.

On January 11, the California Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi at Stanford University hosted a “CEO Dinner with Matt Kraning.” The event is part of a series that allows Tau Bates “to have a small and personal dinner with leaders of the local tech industry.”
Kraning, Ph.D., completed all his degrees (in Physics and electrical engineering) at Stanford and is co-founder and CTO at Qadium. According to the event page, Qadium “indexes all devices connected to the Internet.”
