Kristina M. Johnson, Ph.D. (NC G ’81), has been appointed by the State University of New York (SUNY) Board of Trustees as the 13th chancellor of SUNY. Dr. Johnson is currently the founder and CEO of Cube Hydro Partners, LLC, which develops hydroelectric generation facilities that provide clean energy to communities and businesses.
Previously, she was appointed by President Barack Obama as U.S. Under Secretary of Energy and served as Johns Hopkins University provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, dean of the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University, and professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder. According to an article from The New York Times, Dr. Johnson will begin her position on September 5, 2017.

The family of engineers of Kimberly R. Stillmaker, Ph.D. (CA R ’08), were recently profiled by California State University, Fresno. Dr. Stillmaker completed her master’s and Ph.D. degrees this past summer and is now an assistant professor in the department of civil and geomatics engineering at Fresno. Her motivation to become an engineer stems from her aunt, uncle, and grandfather, all of whom were engineers.
She is also married to an engineer, Aaron T. Stillmaker, Ph.D. (CA R ’08), an assistant professor of computer engineering at CSU, Fullerton. Kimberly is teaching three courses, working on research, and local STEM outreach. In addition, she is an advisor to the CA Rho Chapter of Tau Beta Pi and a past TBP District Director. The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) has announced that Teik C. Lim, Ph.D. (AL B ’85), will be the next provost and vice president for academic affairs at UTA. Dr. Lim presently serves as the Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati. His appointment will take effect starting June 30, 2017.
