On Friday, June 2, at the Huntsville Country Club (Alabama) the Rocket City Alumni Chapter of Tau Beta Pi will be formally installed and there will be a dinner to recognize N. Jan Davis, Ph.D., P.E. (AL A ’77), and Michael D. Griffin, Ph.D. (MD B ’77), as 2016 TBP Distinguished Alumni.

Two Tau Bates were recently selected for the 2017 Capital One Academic All-America® Division III baseball teams. Click here for the All-America Division III first, second, and third baseball teams.
John M. Drago – MA B 2017, a mechanical engineering major at the MIT and second team All-American; he is a the lead-off hitter and second baseman on the baseball team. He was the 2014 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, three-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference, and has a career-best .982 fielding percentage, making just three errors in 169 total chances and 96 assists.
Bob R. Barnett – PA I 2017, majoring in civil engineering at Widener University and second team All-American; he is an outfielder for the varsity baseball team, a two-time All-MAC Commonwealth First Team selection, and named the MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

According to an article from U.S. News, the Louisiana State University’s College of Engineering will receive a $1 million leadership gift from Valero Energy Corporation “to support the engineering education and hands-on experiences for engineering students.”
LSU Engineering Dean Judy Wornat, Sc.D. (NY G ’81), says the new equipment and research labs will provide a state-of-the-art learning environment for job preparation.
