Christopher P. Bradley – CA B 2017, a senior mechanical engineering major at Caltech and first team All-American; he is a member of the men’s water polo team. He is a two-time ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American, finished his career with 393 goals, and co-founded the Caltech Unmanned Aerial Vehicle club.
Braeden Ostepchuk – VT B 2018, majoring in mechanical engineering as a junior at Norwich University and first team All-American; he is a goalie for the men’s hockey team. Ostepchuk won a NCAA Elite 90 Award, led the team to a Div. III National Championship in 2016-17, and is Vermont Beta Chapter president of Tau Beta Pi.
Timothy H. Keith – DC B 2017, graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering from The Catholic University of America and third team All-American; he is an attacker for the varsity lacrosse team. He is a two-time selection to the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Nike All-America Team, a two-time first team All-Landmark selection, and led his team to their best regular season record (13-2) in program history.
Tyler J. Olney – MA D 2017, a mechanical engineering graduate from Tufts University and third team All-American; he is a defender for the varsity lacrosse team. He is a three-time Academic All-American, voted to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-New England second team, and a member of the 2015 National Championship team.

The 2017 Astronaut Candidate Class was announced on June 7 by NASA. The class of 12 was selected from more than 18,300 applicants. Raja J. Chari, CO Z ’99, was among those selected. He is a Colonel select in the U.S. Air Force, serving as Commander of the 461st Flight Test Squadron and the Director of the F-35 Integrated Test Force. His bachelor’s degree is in astronautical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy.
According to the announcement, the astronaut candidates will return to Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX) in August to begin two years of training. Then they could be assigned to any of a variety of missions, including: performing research on the International Space Station, launching from American soil on spacecraft built by commercial companies, and departing for deep space missions on NASA’s new Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System rocket.

Sayaka Abe – NY K 2017, a recent chemical engineering graduate from the University of Rochester and second team All-American; she is a midfielder on the field hockey team. She was honored as a First Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, she set a single season record with 18 assists in 2016, and the North Atlantic Regional Player of the Year.
Hope Shevchuk – MA A 2017, chemical engineering graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute and second team All-American; she is dual-sport student-athlete in field hockey and softball and was named to the first team Academic All-American as a softball player. She is a six-time NEWMAC All-Academic honoree, studied autism in New Zealand, and is a past president of the MA Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. She also maintained a 4.0 GPA.
