The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) has named Theresa A. Maldonado, Ph.D. (GA A ’81), as the Dean of the College of Engineering and professor of electrical engineering. Dr. Maldonado has been serving as the founding senior vice president for research, innovation and economic development at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Lizzy Crist, MO G 2017, has been selected as a nominee for the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year. She is a recent graduate with a degree in biomedical engineering. Crist plans to enroll in the University of Minnesota to pursue a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering.
Crist was named the 2017 Division III Honda Athlete of the Year and the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Soccer Association National Player of the Year after leading Washington University (MO) to the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer National Championship. Earlier this month, the PrISUm Solar Car Team showed off its newest model Penumbra on the streets of Iowa’s capital with Governor Kim Reynolds. According to the article, this year’s vehicle can seat three passengers (four total), compared to previous models that only fit the driver.
Dylan M. Neal, (IA A 2018) president of PrISUm Solar Car Team, addressed the public and media during the event and spoke about the support the team has received from Governor Reynolds. “Governor Reynolds, we have known for quite some time. Everything we do with STEM education and everything that we really stand for as a program align with her goals and her goals for the state,” said Neal.
