TBP McDonald Mentor, Ag Dean, & Pageant Engineer (August 2017)

Daniel F. Dolan, Ph.D., (MN A ’70), has been selected as the 2017 Tau Beta Pi McDonald Mentor. Dr. Dolan is a former professor of mechanical engineering and the Director of the Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing and Production (CAMP) at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.

He will be recognized at the annual Tau Beta Pi Convention on October 13, in Michigan. Click here to read the press release for more information.

Robert T. Burns, Ph.D., P.E. (TN A ’95), became Dean of University of Tennessee Extension on August 1, 2017. UT Extension is the agricultural, community and economic development, youth, and family and consumer outreach unit of the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture. Previously, Dr. Burns served as assistant dean of UT Extension.

An article from The Daily Times (TN) profiles Dr. Burns, his career, and his roots in Blount County. He earned a B.S. in agricultural engineering, a master’s in environmental engineering, and a Ph.D. in civil engineering all from UT-Knoxville.

This week an industrial engineer will compete in the Mrs. U.S. Continental Pageant in Savannah, GA. Emily Huneycutt works for Schaeffler Group in Fort Mill, South Carolina, and is a former Miss Princess of North Carolina (2013). From a young age, she has been involved in many volunteering opportunities. According to the news article, her platform for the pageant is volunteerism.

Huneycutt was the first female to graduate from East Carolina University (NC) in the mechanical engineering concentration. She was active with Tau Beta Pi before the NC Zeta chapter was installed in 2016 and was elected to join.
