TBP Convention Experience, P.D. Soros Fellows, & Nutrition App (August 2017)

The 2017 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellows have been announced. The 30 recipients are “outstanding immigrants and children of immigrants from all over the country and world who are pursuing graduate school in the United States.” Two Tau Beta Pi members were selected from the 1,775 applicants this year. Amin Aalipour, CA G ’14, is pursuing a M.D./ Ph.D. in bioengineering at Stanford University. His bachelor’s and master’s degrees were earned at Stanford in materials science and engineering. Ivan A. Kuznetsov, MD A ’16, is also pursuing a M.D./ Ph.D. in bioengineering at University of Pennsylvania. His bachelor’s degree is in biomedical engineering from The Johns Hopkins University.

George B. Bennett, Ph.D. (WV A ’66), was profiled by The State Journal (WV) for developing “a wellness program that includes an app that tracks nutrition in a one-of-a-kind way.” Dr. Bennett is co-founder, chairman, & CEO of the platform. According to the article, the technology behind Good Measures gives a person customized meal and snack suggestions that address daily nutritional needs, while taking into consideration food preferences and food restrictions.

Dr. Bennett has been an entrepreneur for more than 35 years and earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from West Virginia University. Read his bio here.
