Aerospace Scholar, Materials Science Professor, & Missouri S&T Honors (November 2017)

Chris S. Weston, MI G 2018, is one of seven student recipients selected from the University of Michigan aerospace department to receive the annual Aerospace Engineering Centennial Scholarship. According to the news article, criteria for the award includes academic excellence, leadership qualities, and contribution to the culture of the aerospace department.

Weston is a senior with plans to attend graduate school. He has worked at NASA Langley Research and works as an undergraduate researcher.

A recent ceremony was held to honor seven professionals with ties to Missouri University of Science and Technology for being inducted into the Missouri S&T Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers. Among those recognized for their outstanding professional achievement and success was Robert B. Oetting, Ph.D. (MO B ’55), professor emeritus of mechanical and aerospace engineering.

Dr. Oetting was on the S&T faculty for 31 years, taught the Private Pilot Ground School each year, and worked as a test stand engineer at GMC before joining academia. Read the news article for more biographical information on all new inductees.
