Dean Davis, PSPE Engineer of the Year, City Engineer Retires (January 2018)

The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that University of Tennessee (UT) Engineering Dean Wayne T. Davis, Ph.D. (TN A ’73), plans to retire in June of 2018. Dr. Davis has served as Tickle College of Engineering Dean since 2008 and has been at UT for nearly 44 years.

He was initiated into Tau Beta Pi in 2009 as an eminent engineer. Read the article for details on the accomplishments and significant growth that Dr. Davis has overseen at UT.

Charles J. Catania Jr., P.E. (PA Q ’89), has been selected as the 2018 Engineer of the Year by the Delaware County Chapter of Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. He will be honored on February 21, 2018, at the Annual Awards Dinner.

Catania is project manager for Catania Engineering Associates, Inc. He joined the firm after earning his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Villanova University. In addition, Catania serves as club president to the local Ridley United Soccer Club. Read more about the the award here.

The Linn County (IA) Board of Supervisors recently accepted Steven M. Gannon’s notice of retirement. Gannon, IA A ’72, has served the county for 40 years and spent the two previous decades as County Engineer. The plan is for his final day on the job to be April 13, 2018.

According to the news announcement, Gannon has overseen the design and construction of Blairs Ferry Road from Chain Lakes Road all the way to Palo. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in civil engineering.
