The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced the 2017-18 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Women’s Basketball teams, including Division I, II, III, and college division. All First Team Academic All-District selections advance to the national Capital One Academic All-American ballot.
There are three Tau Beta Pi members that have been named to the 2017-18 Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Basketball teams: (See the full list)

Amanda D. Thompson – GA B 2019, electrical engineering at Mercer University
NCAA Division III: First team (District 2)
Alexis “Lexie” K. Scholtz – MD A 2019, biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University
NCAA College Division: First team (District 1)
Nicole L. Buckingham – MI H 2019, mechanical engineering at Lawrence Technological University

The annual Girl Day at the University of Texas at Austin will take place Saturday, February 24, on the Cockrell School of Engineering and Natural Sciences complexes. The event is free for K-8 students and allows them to participate in more than 150 free-flowing hands-on activities and demonstrations hosted by student organizations, volunteers, and corporate partners.

The Texas Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at UT-Austin, will host “Medieval Engineering: The Trebuchet” at this year’s Girl Day. Participants will launch water balloons across the lawn with a medieval launching machine called a trebuchet. The University of Mississippi School of Engineering has named five recipients of the 2017-18 Outstanding Senior Leadership Award. All five are members of Tau Beta Pi.
Harleigh E. Huggins, MS B 2017, mechanical engineering major, TBP Chapter president, & a future manufacturing engineer with ABB Inc.
William R. Garrett, MS B 2018, will work at Milwaukee Tool, degree in mechanical engineering, & active in Engineers Without Borders.
Colber N. Lehr, MS B 2018, graduating in electrical engineering, past Engineering Student Body president, & accepted position with Raytheon.
Zachary L. Mitchell, MS B 2018, will attend medical school, BMES society chapter VP, & research assistant.
David Rozier III, MS B 2017, 3-time outstanding chemical engineering student and will work as process engineer at International Paper.
