2017 TBP Convention Minutes, KPCB General Partner, & PiE Robotics Competition

The minutes of the 2017 Tau Beta Pi Convention are now available online. Read about Convention attendees, events, and meetings of the 112th Convention of the Association.

Ilya Fushman, Ph.D. (CA B ’03), has been appointed as general partner and managing member at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Most recently, Dr. Fushman was a general partner a Index Ventures. Previously, he was one of Dropbox’s first 75 employees and “helped to build and run the company’s business and corporate development functions.”

Read the announcement for more information on Dr. Fushman whose B.S. is in Physics from Caltech and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are in Applied Physics and electrical engineering from Stanford University.

Pioneers in Engineering (PiE) is a non-profit robotics competition run by UC Berkeley engineering students and designed to encourage interest in science, math, and engineering among Bay Area high school students. The competition was founded and is strongly supported by the CA Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi. The program was founded in 2008 and led by Xiao-Yu Fu, CA A ’09, who is currently a CA Alpha Chapter advisor.

This year’s kickoff event for the PiE Robotics Competition takes place on March 10. In addition, the program is offering scholarships to high school students. Visit the Facebook page for more details and images.
