FIU Service Dog & ME Grad, Data Engineer Position, & URI Bioastronautics Researcher

History was made at this year’s Florida International University (FIU) spring commencement. A service dog, Kali, was recognized by FIU’s disability resource center with a certificate of completion. Kali’s owner is graduate Tiffany Ascanio, FL Q 2018, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

The image above was included in the news article from FIU. Ascanio and Kali are next headed to Seattle where she will work for Boeing as a manufacturing engineer.


The Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball are looking for a data engineer to join their research and development team. “The goal of the Data Engineer is to democratize data, support data initiatives, ensure consistent data delivery and empower Rockies personnel to derive powerful and actionable insights.”

Rachel F. Bellisle, RI B 2018, will graduate on May 20 from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in biomedical engineering. She was one of only 25 students accepted into the medical engineering and medical physics program at Harvard-MIT health sciences and technology where she will pursue a Ph.D.

Bellisle was recently named a 2018 TBP Fellow and served as RI Beta Chapter recording secretary. Read the article for information on her internships and her graduate funding from Draper Laboratories.
