May Bulletin Publication, Stanford Distinguished Speaker Series, Cal Fullerton Dean (May 2018)

The May issue of The Bulletin is now available. The issue includes highlights of the Association’s participation at the 2018 USA Science & Engineering Festival.

The issue also includes a list of this year’s TBP Fellows, preview of 2017-18 Fellow reports, a recap of an alumni/collegiate TBPi Day event, important chapter operations information, student advisory board updates, Goldwater Scholars, District Conference summaries, and much more. The California Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, at Stanford University, will host its annual Distinguished Speaker Series on Thursday, May 24. This year’s speaker is Doug Leone, global managing partner at Sequoia Capital. Leone has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and pioneered Sequoia’s expansion into the global market.

Susamma “Susan” Barua, Ph.D., has been appointed as dean of California State, Fullerton’s dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, effective June 1. According to the news article, Dr. Barua has served as interim dean since July 2016.

She holds a Ph.D. in computer engineering from the University of Cincinnati and spent 11 years as coordinator of the computer engineering program.
