The first woman to hold the top academic position at Tennessee Tech University began as the new Provost in late April of this year. Lori Mann Bruce, Ph.D. (AL D ’91), plans to highlight Tech’s strengths in high technology and STEM-based disciplines while helping students understand the value of higher education.
Dr. Bruce has previously served as an associate vice president and dean of the graduate school for Mississippi State University and as a professor of electrical and computer engineering at MSU. Click here for the news release.

Levi T. Thompson, Ph.D. (MI G ’81), has been named the dean of the University of Delaware’s College of Engineering, beginning October 1, 2018. Currently. Dr. Thompson is a professor of chemical engineering at the University of Michigan. Read the news announcement for more details.
“It is truly an honor to have been selected to serve as the next dean of the College of Engineering at UD. Leaving the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor after 30 years is bittersweet, but I am very excited to return to my alma mater, where I began my studies as an engineer,” said Dr. Thompson. He joined Tau Beta Pi in 2013 as an eminent engineer.

There is an opening in Houston, TX, for a lead process engineer with General Electric. According to the job posting, the lead process engineer “will provide technical leadership for assigned design tasks and conduct detailed work for Heat & Material balance, PFD, P&ID, and equipment sizing of requisition projects.”
A degree in chemical engineering or thermal engineering is desired as well as the ability and willingness to travel.
