In September in recognition of his 103rd birthday, BrightStar Care of Austin and a local artist made a special gift to the University of Texas at Austin chemical engineering department. The bronze bust was a tribute to John J. McKetta Jr., Ph.D. (TX A ’36), “a foundational figure in chemical engineering education.”
Dr. Mcketta spent 40+ years at UT, mentored thousands of students, and served as dean of the College of Engineering. He has also served as energy advisor to four U.S. presidents. The UT department of chemical engineering is named after him. Watch the video celebration of his 103rd birthday here.
