Donna M. Auguste, CO B ’80, was inducted into Tau Beta Pi as an eminent engineer by the CO Beta Chapter at CU Boulder during the 2018 TBP Convention. Auguste is a Ph.D. candidate in the ATLAS Institute at CU Boulder and was profiled in a news article.

Her latest research coined “DataTip,” promotes interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) among children and families of color by making STEM topics relevant to their daily lives. Previously, she worked for Apple and founded Freshwater Software & the Leave a Little Room Foundation. CO Beta Chapter’s Chief Advisor Sandy Pitzak, CO B ’00, said, “An eminent engineer sets a good example for the students, and Donna is an excellent example.”

On November 27, the Johns Hopkins University School of Engineering will host Oge Marques, Ph.D. (FL E ’87), for a lecture on “Medical image analysis using deep learning.” Dr. Marques is a professor of computer science and engineering at Florida Atlantic University (FAU).
He joined Tau Beta Pi in 2009 as an eminent engineer; is an ACM Distinguished Speaker; and author of more than 100 publications in the area of intelligent processing of visual information. Read the abstract for his lecture.
