The Florida Inventors Hall of Fame has named University of Central Florida (UCF) Emeritus Professor of Optics Michael Bass, Ph.D. (PA G ’60) as one of eight members of the class of 2019 to be inducted on Sept. 20 in Tampa. According to the news article, Dr. Bass is “an expert in the areas of lasers and optics.”
He “played an integral role in the development of the Fiber Optics Laser Light Delivery system, which uses fiber optics to treat internal bleeding and tumors.” Dr. Bass has 34 U.S. patents, served as a faculty member and researcher at UCF for more than 30 years, and continues to teach.

Tyler A. Marsh, MA A 2020, has been named the NEWMAC Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year and also received first-team all-New Englad honors at 157 pounds. Marsh is a junior at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) where he studies mechanical engineering and is a member of the varsity wrestling team.
He became WPI’s first champion of the NCAA Regional era and back-to-back national qualifier since 2004. Marsh finished out the season with a record of 23-6. Click here to read the announcement.
