Alumni Chapters: Once a Tau Bate, always a Tau Bate

This week’s blog post comes exclusively from items posted by Tricia Gomulinski on the Facebook Group for Alumni Chapters. If you are on Facebook, make sure you request to join the group!

Planning Session Takes Place

Officers of the Ohio North Coast Alumni Chapter (Cleveland/Akron) held their annual planning meeting in January to map out the scaffold of activities for 2020. From left to right: Matthew Walsh (Sec.), Adam Wallaart (VP), Shelton Caruthers (P), Brad Paton (Treas.).

Moon Pie and a Bookmark

The Pioneer Alumni Chapter supported the Oklahoma Gamma Chapter at OSU by providing funding for Moon Pies. OK G wanted to increase their campus presence before they send invitations to new candidates. On January 24, students and alumni distributed 115 Moon Pies at the weekly “cheap lunch” in the Student Excellence Center. They attached TBP bookmarks to the pies. Sounds like the event went very well! Great job!

Panel Discussion in The Triangle

The TBP Research Triangle Alumni Chapter Board would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the alumni who volunteered their time to serve as panelists at the January 21 event with the NC Alpha Chapter at NC State. The 11 panelists were able to interact with 20 students from NC State, Campbell, and ECU through both the panel and a networking session afterwards. Our next event is an alumni panel at Duke University on February 11.

Albuquerque Alumni Chapter was installed January 19

The El Paso Alumni Chapter was reactivated Thursday, January 16. Welcome back!

District Conferences Set

There are 16 districts for Tau Beta Pi around the country. During each winter/spring term, each district holds a conference, and the collegiate chapters send representatives to attend. They typically discuss chapter operations and reporting and exchange ideas on activities and membership issues. Several involve alumni from the area by inviting them to a meal or asking them to serve on an alumni panel.

Current alumni chapter officers are invited to attend the conference in their district. If another district’s conference is closer to you, you could decide to go to the closer conference instead. Dates and locations are listed below or found on the website here: https://www.tbp.org/off/districtConference.cfm

If you are interested in attending a district conference near you, please email me at tricia@tbp.org and your District Directors, which you can find here: https://www.tbp.org/about/districtDirectors.cfm.

There is a policy regarding alumni chapter officer reimbursement at these conferences that was approved by the Executive Council in 2016. Contact Tricia Gomulinski for the policy. Thanks!
