Thanks to the generosity of the Faidley family (Galen W., IA A 2000; LeAnn E., IA A 2000; and LeVern W., IA A 1967), Tau Beta Pi will offer petitioner support grants to “to promote greater diversity in TBP membership and provide the opportunity for these institutions and students/graduates to participate in and benefit from TBP chapters on their campuses.” The funds will be used to cover expenses incurred by schools during the petitioning process.

The amount of each grant is at the discretion of the TBP Executive Director and can be used for attendance at the TBP annual Convention, visits by Association Officials, payment of the one-time affiliation fee, and other similar expenses.

A group of four academics from Dayton University recently published an article with the international society for optics and photonics (SPIE) related to the “development (of) a multistage framework for aerial imagery analysis. This can be used for the automatic detection and identification of machinery threats to pipeline right-of-way.” One of the authors is Paheding Sidike, AL E 2013, a graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from Dayton.
