Anthony J. Calvano, NJ G 2015, was profiled by MyCentralJersey.com and was recently recognized as the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) department of civil and environmental engineering Outstanding Senior and Newark College of Engineering. Calvano is scheduled to graduate with a degree in civil engineering next month from NJIT. He serves as a member of the executive board of NJIT’s chapter of Engineer’s Without Borders, has interned for two summers with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, and helps first-year students adjust to college life.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced 2,000 individuals have been awarded a Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) for 2015. This year there were a total of 16,500 applicants. “Since 1952, NSF has provided fellowships to individuals selected early in their graduate careers based on their demonstrated potential for significant achievements in science and engineering.” Click here to search the NSF website for those that were offered a fellowship and for honorable mentions or read the press release.

The 2015 Washington Internships for Students of Engineering (WISE) has selected 14 interns to “spend nine weeks in Washington, D.C., learning about the public policy process, including how government officials make decisions on complex technological issues and how engineers can contribute to legislative and regulatory public policy decisions. The WISE Program is ranked as one of the best Internship opportunities in the U.S.” Three of this year’s interns are Tau Bates. They are:
1. Devin J. Cornell – (MO B 2015) electrical engineering at the Missouri Univ. of Science & Tech.
2. Noah B. Rauschkolb – (NY A 2015) mechanical engineering at Columbia University
3. Jami Summey-Rice – (TX E 2017) chemical engineering at the University of Houston (to be initiated April 19)
