Larinda Nichols (ID B 2014) – a nuclear engineer at Applied Engineering Services, Inc., holds bachelor’s degrees in mechanical and nuclear engineering, and a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from ISU.
Malcolm E. Tencate (ID B 2018) – bachelor’s in civil engineering and mechanical engineering, member of track team, and president of Crossroads Christian Fellowship.

Three Tau Bates were recently selected for the 2018 CoSIDA Google Cloud Division I Academic All-America® Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country teams, respectively.
William A. Anderson, IL D B 2019, an electrical engineering major at Bradley University and first team All-American; he is a long distance runner. Anderson has a 4.0 GPA, scored in three different events at the MVC Conference Championships this year, and holds the program’s fourth-best time in the indoor 5,000m.
Will Braddock – SC G 2018, a recent electrical engineering graduate of The Citadel and first team All-American; he is a long distance track runner and cross-country team member. Braddock is the first track and field/cross country runner from The Citadel to earn the honor, graduated with a 4.0 GPA, previously served as SC Gamma recording secretary, and will attend grad school at Georgia Tech.
Stefano Pineda – MD G 2019, U.S. Naval Academy mechanical engineering major and first team All-American; he competes in the pole vault. Pineda is the 2018 Patriot League outdoor track and field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, has a 4.0 GPA, and earned Second Team All-Patriot League accolades at the 2018 Outdoor Championships.

Michael H. Jones, Ph.D., 83, died peacefully on Thursday, June 28, 2018 in Abilene, Texas. Dr. Jones, NC A ’56, was a professor of engineering at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for 42 years. Prior to that, he worked for the Arnold Engineering Development Complex, the EPA, and one year as visiting faculty at North Carolina State University, where he earned the bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degrees in aeronautical engineering.
It was under Dr. Jones’ leadership that the mechanical, civil, and chemical engineering programs received approval from the Tennessee Higher Education Council and obtained their first program accreditation from the Accrediting Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET). In addition, he served as the Chattanooga Faculty Athletics representative for more than a decade and was selected to the Southern Conference All-Faculty Team in 2016. Click here for more from UTC.
