Meadow Glens Elementary School in Naperville, IL, is hosting a STEM Discovery Night on Pi Day – 3.14.16 – Monday, March 14, 2016. Last year’s event was heralded as the first-of-its-kind in the school district at the K-8 level, and they were thrilled by the large audience, terrific reviews, and the attention of many surrounding communities and school districts.
This year’s event is looking for more sponsors and exhibitors. David Preissig, P.E., IA A ’95, is the STEM Night coordinator for the expo-style event with displays and demonstrations from many STEM disciplines, which are provided by our region’s scientific and engineering community. Jay “Scott” Goldstein, Ph.D. (CA D ’97), has joined ENSCO, Inc., as its Chief Strategy and Technology Officer. According to the news announcement, his primary goal will be to advance Falls Church, VA-based ENSCO’s technologies and technical capabilities and to ensure better alignment of our technologies with the strategic needs of our customers.
Dr. Goldstein has more than 30 years of experience leading organizations and serving as a chief technology officer, including programs with DARPA, the Intelligence Community, and the military. He previously served as the Chief Technologist and manager of the Advanced Missions Solutions Group with Dynetics. He has also authored or co-authored more than 100 refereed technical publications and has four U.S. patents in spread spectrum communications and adaptive processing for signal detection.
The Tau Beta Pi Rocket City Alumni Chapter is hosting a holiday social on Thursday, December 10. All local Tau Bates and family are invited to join in at the Bar Louie in Huntsville, AL. The event will begin at 5pm, food and drinks will be available for purchase, and the alumni chapter leaders will discuss upcoming events for 2016. More information is available on their website.
