Volleyball & Football Academic All-Americans & 2018 Convention (December 2017)

One Tau Bates, and one eligible for membership, were recently selected for the 2017 CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America® Volleyball teams. Click here for the All-America Volleyball Division III first, second, and third teams.

Azita BakhtyariMA A 2019, a mechanical engineering major at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and second team All-American; she is a setter on the volleyball team. Bakhtyari is a two-time NEWMAC All-Academic honoree, finished fourth in the conference with 876 assists, and was previously selected as a Charles O. Thompson Scholar.

Abby Berticseligible to join MA B 2019, is an electrical engineering & computer science major at MIT and first team All-American; she is an outside hitter on the volleyball team. Bertics was named New England Women’s Volleyball Association Player of the Year, interned at Google, and received NEWMAC Athlete of the Year and All-Conference First Team accolades.

The 2018 Tau Beta Pi Convention will take place October 11-13 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center in Colorado. Several local collegiate chapters are working together with the local alumni chapter as hosts. Make plans to attend the Association’s annual gathering of alumni, students, leaders, and volunteers.

Colin G. PeterCO A 2017, recently earned his degree in mechanical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and first team All-American; he is an offensive lineman on the football team. Peter was a team captain, two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, and was named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team.

Nick K. ThorpeMN B 2018, majoring in mechanical engineering at the University of Minnesota, Duluth and first team All-American; he is a defensive end on the football team. Thorpe was a 2017 All-NSIC first team selection, has tallied 20+ total tackles for four straight seasons, and has recorded 12.5 sacks in his career.
